    Gelert self inflating mattress

    Hi there,

Anybody out there used these ?
They seem to be a lot cheaper than Thermarest. What's the difference ?
( apart from the price )

    Thanks

    Warranty?
    Quality?
    Weight?
    Pack size?

I dunno, I have neither of 'em...

    Re: Gelert self inflating mattress

It is probably a "gelert" labelled version of the cheap copy of a thermarest that has been doing the rounds for years. I have two of these, bought as "no-name" imitation thermarests in 1991.

    Differences:
    1. The valve is a brass machining on mine and is actually more durable than the genuine one when trodden on in hefty boots, etc.

    2. The glue that holds the skin onto the open-cell foam liner is less effective. They delaminate after a few years use, and the delaminated area will "bubble" when you lay down on the mat. This progressively makes the mat less comfy.

But mine were worth the saving!
