    Touratech Rallye Footpegs

Thought I'd splash out on a set of these what with the Stella coming up and everything.

Went to fit them last night, having looked at the destructions (handily in German) and figuring it was a 5 minute job.

About half an hour later I was lying next to the bike bleeding and slightly concussed! Either I'm being a complete spaz (which is highly likely) or I'm doing something very very wrong.

They use the original spring from the OEM pegs, so off they came, out came the spring and then I simply slot it into the new peg....ahhhh, it doesn't fit! The OEM pegs have a sort of open end so the spring can go wherever it needs to, but the TT ones have a little bar across the end which is stopping me positioning the spring properly. Pegs go on easy, I just cant fit the spring back in.

So I'm sort of squatting, with the spring and peg in position, forcing the thing against the little hole for the spring to try and squeeze it in, with all my weight against it and using all my strength when, as you might expect, it slips, slicing across the top of my finger and making me headbut the engine, accompanied by a very loud shout of "You Motherhubbard"...or words to that effect! Now have a large "egg" on my forehead!

Anyone else fitted these? Anyone else with serious head injuries?!

Must say though...they're very comfy! Even if they dont spring back into place at the moment!

Lets do it! The amount of bits I've got sat at home "waiting" to be fitted is enough to give us a good start...it's only my incompetance holding me back!

    Put the kettle on Whealie!

I'm a dab hand with all sorts of sticky tape (gafer, double sided sellotape, carpet tape, semi-clear repair tape)and cable ties in lots of different sizes and colours. Can I play too?

You only need 2 things in a tool kit.....................................
    WD40 and gaffa tape,
If it moves and it shouldn't - festoon it with gaffer tape
If it doesn't move and it should - drown it with WD

PS Nothing and i mean nothing screams bodge like wrinkles in your gaffa tape
