    Those tank protectors .......

the carbon ones which you fix to the back of the tank to protect it from kit / zip scratches etc ? Do they 'glue' on ? or is there some other semi-mystical fixative which sticks them on ?? & once on, can they be removed without causing any damage to the tank ??? or are they on for good ???

They are held on by a voodoo spell. If you want to remove them without damaging the tank you have to sell your soul. HTH.

Hmm.....I think that's probably about right ....it's not for the TA, there's a Honda one on there already & that's ok, functional, & suits the times, but I have this 20 year old VFR which is about as good a 20 year old bike as you're likley to see, unrestored, & I'm tempted to put one on but not if I can't remove it without leaving a mark.

they can be removed, i had a black one on my blue tank when i bought it and didn't like it so with a long blast of the wifes hairdryeron fuul heat( unbeknown to her!!) it eventually softened up and peeled off, swiftly to be replaced by a clear one that appears tank color and much less noticeable.
