pannier frames and crash bars. etc etc etc

few people have asked questions in the past about making up tubular frames for panniers, crash bars, etc ...

We will be needing a lot of tube work made for an on going project so today we ended up buying the hydraulic press and formers to do it ourselves... we can bend anything from 10MM up to 60MM ( 3/8" to 2 3/8" in old money) -thats most pannier frames, racks, crash bars, chassis frame mods and even exhaust tubes. If anybody is considering making up anything then PM me, all jobs will be at cost for the time being.

    Hi Jenna,

    Hope all's good.

Friend of mine has a KTM Adv 990 and has been after some crash bars. Could you help out with these? I think you could get inundated with requests - be prepared!!!

    Thanks
    Andy

    Jenna,

I would be interested in some bars to protect the side panels. Something along the lines of the Rikycross side protection bars.

I am just about to go on the family holiday to Greece now but I will contact you when I'm back.

    cheers, Bob.

Jenna, did you do this in the end?

I have Touratech rails on my Tiger and would like to get a set of rails for my RD04 so I can swap the metal cases from one bike to the other easily.

The essential hoop measurements are 31cm x 21cm.

According to the Touratech website their hoops are 350mm x 245mm.

I´ve just had some made - there´s still 2 sets left if you´re interested (they´re on Ebay but I´ll pull them if you want them).

My measurements are the inside of the rectangles. Where have you measured yours, please?

    From here: http://www.touratech.com/shops/008/p...13ba69e4ed2ac2

It´s normal to measure the overall size, i.e. to the outsides.

Well on the assumption that as my panniers have been drilled to fit onto Touratech racks then yours will fit too, I'll have a pair please.

Now all I need to do is find someone who has made up a set of tubes to mount onto an RD04.... Any ideas?

Re: pannier frames and crash bars. etc etc etc

TT tubing is 18mm thick so that would account for the inside/outside difference.
also, ive seen racks from the same maker for the same bike be up to 10mm different, by the time the hoop has been bent and welded and then had the arms welded on and then graunched to fit on your bike, they often warp to buggery. i would expect expensive ones like TT to be pretty good, although the main thing is that the box fits securely.
