    Big ol' Baja headlights

I fancy one of these Baja stylee 8" headlights but as they are racing gear, and bloody expensive I guess, has anyone come across anything similar which would be road legal? Presume one needs a sidelight and the facility to dip... imagine race lights don't have these facilities.

Something bike specific would be good, preferably with the groovy tubing surround/guard thingy.

    Help

I don`t know what diameter they were, but Honda made a 250 version of the XL/XR with twin headlamps surrounded by a funky guard.

Funnily enough,it was called the XLR 250 Baja.

The grey import specialists may be able to get the parts if you want them.

One of the best features of the @ is the twin headlights. I thought they where called africa twins because of that, many years ago, before I knew about twin cylinders etc

Those Baja Designs ones were the first that I saw. The twin headlights do look pretty cool too, would having two lights be necessarily better than one biggy? Redundancy I guess for starters...

not wishing to put the mockers on it but the size of the light is irrespective to the lights output... eg a 2" hella hi output whacks out as much 'light' as a f@~k off great PIAA 10" unit!... also the monster great reflector lenses get smashed all the time so buy plenty of spares!!

I'm nothing if not easily influenced... can you get a hella hi output that would be road legal?

the hella range is huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge, but the website is total pants if you want to investigate their products, best way is find your nearest auto sparks and have look through his books.

Both KTM and YMF are now using the new 2.5" power xeon units great light but seriously expensive!!!......

if you do still want to have a big (old style) race light then watch ebay for a PIAA maxus lamp. They are 6-10" in diameter 55-130watt ( you can cook on a 130 watt one )and come in a steel bowl so you can weld your own fixings to the case, the glass is as thick as the tank at your nearest sealife center so they last, however be aware they weigh a fair bit! you should be able to find a single on ebay cheap as most people (like us) only want them as matched pairs.

Any DR250 Djebels in the breakers. Hooooge headlight. Very very good in the dark, had one behind me on an unlit road and I was using his beam to see by rather than my pathetic DR350 headlight.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!
