Who lives in Norfolk/suffolk/Essex/Cambs or nearby that can help

    A shout for help.

I want to fit my engine bars, but as posted before, I have rounded the nut on the front top engine mount that needs to come off to fit the bars. the nut is in a out the way place between the frame and the exhaust and I can't get a socket in there. Tried a spanner but just rounded the nut off. Went to a few garages and most weren't interested but one guy quoted me abour 100 quid as he said it would take about 3 hours. I have thought about instant metal but am not sure it will work. I think the answer is a dremmel or something similar to cut through the nut. ( i have a replacement bolt, so damaging the bolt is not a problem). Problem is I don't own one, so I am appealing to anyone near East Anglia, I don't mind riding a hundred miles to get to where you are as long as you think you can definatley help. I am getting desperate, I bought the bars in December and still not fitted.

    Cheers in advance

    Hi Barry,

i'm down in Colchester, Essex. Ive got a Dremel type tool (something similar).

Can you post a picture of the offending part so we can have a better look, before you ride all over East Anglia ?

    Cheers
    Ant.

missus is away with camera, but if you look at the front of the engine and the top engine mount bolt behind the plastic radiator protector, you will see that its the bolt between the exhaust and the frame, theres two of them, its the top one, thats if the RD04 is the same as the RD07(should imagine so)

Just had a quick look at my bike - cant see it in the position you mention, so think its different between the 2 models.

I would happily help you out, but cant guarantee anything until i see it - however, if i had a CHAD, i'm sure it could be sorted

I'm guessing the side panels need to come off and possibly the exhaust header pipes to get good access to the offending item ?????????? Then you'll need new exhaust gaskets as weel .

you only need to lower the bash plate the move the plastic radiator protector out of the way and you can see the bolt, will a dremmel cut throu metal
cos if it will then you could be my saviour

Should do the job, depending how thick it is (mine will manage up to about 5mm slowly). If that fails ive gut a 115mm grinder with 1mm thick cutting disc which will go through just about anything

I should be in all weekend - supposed to be catching up on DIY jobs

Your more than welcome to pop down if you like - and i'll see if i can help ?

whens good for you, i am at a loose end all weekend, missus is away with the baby, only got a cot to put together and mow the grass, but apart from that free for the whole weekend. Also will need address and directions as the missus for some reason can't find her way to her folks in yorkshire without the satnav even thou she has been there dozens of times lol. I have maps but directions when i get to colchester would be great...cheers
