Can't justify the £100+ that Touratech want for their roadbook, has anyone here done a DIY job and if so any pics?

I use a plastic one from Acerbis, £50, but fully manuel, no motors or lights.
I'm trying a DIY version, I'll post up some pics and details soon...![]()
we use the tt (rb) one, i think the extra £50 or so over the acerbis one is well worth it... hunt on ebay germany they often come up for under £100.
There are some on ebay uk at the moment (though seem to be shipped from portugal):

The funny thing is that's probably a lot lighter and more waterproof than the one on ebay and the more expensive ones. You could probably do one in a similar way and a bit prettier and hook it up to one of those little model electric engines wired into a handlebar switch to control it.
Also came across this stuff that you might find handy:

Was thinking of getting some of that to mould a fairing subcowl. Seems like it'd be quite strong as long as you don't spill any hot liquid on it.
This one isn't bad, bolted it on to my Transalp for my Sahara trip, but I have actually used it quite extensivily locally because you can print out directions from the viamichelin website, and feed them straight onto the unit, find it as good, and a lot cheaper than Satnav

It also has a backlight for night time riding.
Well gone and done it - made the prototype!! see new listing below...![]()
