    Hawker Odyssey PC310 Battery

I need to replace the battery in my Africa Twin (RD07A) and rather than a direct swap with either a Yuasa or Varta one, I'm considering getting the Hawker Odyssey PC310 battery.

Has anyone fitted one of these to their Africa Twin - and did you need to alter the main cables at all?

we wanted to upgrade the stock XTZ one aswel (same unit as the @) and opted for the Pc310, its nice unit and is a good weight saving over stock being about half the size. HOWEVER the flip side is its not a good choice if you run a lot of electric goodies and thanks to a reduced storage cap it is likely to get flat fast if your charging gear is not in good nick ( i fitted an anderson plug so that we only use the PC310 when the bike is 'out' around home and in the workshop its 'plugged' into a slave to save the PC310.

Best place to buy i found was Knights (used to be £58), however you can also get reasonable price from manbat too.

if kymmy has not already i'm sure she will explan all the 'suffy' about cca and other electricery, its not my thing.

if your looking for an AGM that got a bit more grunt then the 510 mormally fits in the same space as the stock battery.

Ok - well that's answered that straightaway - definitely don't want the PC310 as I have lots of goodies............

Jenna - I can't seem to find any reference to the 510 anywhere......is it an Odyssey battery?

nope cant see it in the Hawker list anymore so may be discontinued.

If your after an AGM battery (not specifically a Hawker) do a search on 'westCo' batteries and a 'svr14' which is a direct copy of the stock wet battery, its a 200cca AGM but only £60-70 so way cheaper than the big Hawker cells!!!

Excellent - thanks for this Jenna

I see that this online retailer has both.

I can't see what the difference is between the WestCo and the SVR though........apart from £20.

Can you recommend one over the other?

    Re: Hawker Odyssey PC310 Battery

lol if the specs are the same its probably just for the name as they are both made (and marketed) by the same company (MK Battery) in the states!

have look at this one too....12v13l its a copy of the better Pc545 of hawker, from memory its only a couple of mm bigger in one direction so may fit, best of all its a 30%+ cca of 275 over the replacement agm for the stock battery!

    Re: Hawker Odyssey PC310 Battery

OK - in the end I ordered this AGM sealed battery

    WestCo YTX14-BS

    Voltage: 12V
    Capacity: 14Ah
    Cold Cranking: 200CCA

    Dimensions(mm)
    152 x 87 x 146

I did get a recommendation from Dave Knight at Knight Batteries for the Hawker Odyssey PC535MKB but at £107 + delivery it was just a bit too expensive........

    Re: Hawker Odyssey PC310 Battery

think you made the right choice, chances are we will use the same on most bikes from here on in. the big hawker is ridiculously expensive for what it is.

let us know how you get on it please
