    Fairing Crack Repair Help.

    Hi.

Ok after this weekend. I now have two cracks on my front fairing.
It looks like when I take it off it will sit back together and only look like a small scratch.
The scratch should then Colour Polish out.
But what would you guys recoment to Fix the Crack.

I was liking about some resin or glue on the inside of the fairing.
But not sure whats the best.

    Thanks.

    Kris.

Someone with far more knowledge than I will be along, but I seem to remember that you can weld it back together from behind with careful use of a soldering iron.

JB Weld is a fantastic product... stronger than steel.... this should do the trick..

it is grey in colour - so make sure you clean off any excess...(unless you have grey fairings!)

good luck and let us know how you get on...

As DaveS said you can 'weld' the crack with a soldering iron - run the soldering iron along the back of the split and melt the two sides together. IMO this is the most satisfactory method of repair.

There are loads of different adhesives you could use but you can't always be sure that they'll bond well to the fairing plastic.

I used a chemical weld which has lasted so for 2 years. For me it's been more successful than a soldering iron and gives a neater repair.

BondMaster Double Bubble Mix and Fix Bi-Bullie Epoxy Resin.

Seams to have done the trick nicely.
Time wil tell if it holds.

    Cheers.

    Hi,
If there is a hein gericke store near you it might be worth calling in to see if they still sell a plastic welding kit.
So far the best way i've found to repair is to work on the inside of the fairing with something like a dremmel and gring along the line of the crack to make it wider and a little deeper ( obviously taking care not to damage the outer surface).
Then weld the crack up carefully and build up a ridge of plastic in that area to strengthen.
