    riding with cateracts???

or system 5 anti-fogging advice (I though this title would get more looks)

Okay the weather is $h1t here in the midlands right now.. and now that i am an all weather / every day biker (the dreaded commute).. i need some advice.. i have the system 5 helmet (yes BMW.. but i like their helmets)... I have used it plenty in the rain.. but never filtering before... when filtering I am going slowly...e.g. no wind... and I get hot.. so this equals a very fogged up visor.. So what you suggest for stopping it ... I was riding blind this am or sometimes with a very wet face..

And WHY the f*ck dont cage / lorrie drivers put on their lights (not just parking lights) when the weather is bad and at best the visibility is 20 metres .. that was before i got on the bike!!!. it was that yuck this am I just dont understand..stupid stupid

I have the same problem with my Caberg V2. But mine does not fog up. It condences up. LOL.

BTBloke put some Anti Fog Spray on it the other weekend.
    Worked a treat.

I'd look into some Anti Fog Spray.
(I'm getting some ready for this weekend.)

Don't think that I can help with the helmet as I have a Shoei Raid II with the pinlock anti mist thingy - just double glazing for visors.

As for cagers not putting on their lights - they can see where they are going (ie it is not night) so why should they put them on? Just one more example of operating a motor vehicle, which is learned behaviour, rather than actual driving, which is a skill. A subtle but very important distinction.

    Stay safe.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

I don't know the name of the one BTbloke had. But i'm just going to get whatever Rivetts have on the shelf and see how it goes.

Pinloc inserts can be fitted to any visor that isn't double-curvature. I've found the insert to be so good in my Arai that when I change my helmet next I won't consider anything that doesn't take a pinloc. It just will not mist up however hard I breath and whatever the weather.

When I first started riding I tried Bob Heath visor anti-fog spray (little red and white aerosol can) but I never found it worked that well and it needed re-treating very frequently. Inserts are the way to go if you can get one for the BMW lid.

I have had problems with fogging on many helmets until I moved onto Schuberth and Sheoi Pinlock.

One miracle cure I did try was called CatCrap http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/catcrap-antifo...QQcmdZViewItem

I'll save you the experience and money since part of the name is correct and it has nothing to do with felines.

    Re: riding with cateracts???

I've used a Fog City insert on a couple of HJC helmets I've used and they've been brilliant. The pinlock system is similar (but more versatile I think).

I put a Fog City insert in my Arai Tour X and it still mists up right on the centre of the visor. The sides are OK, it's just the bit you look through mists up. Has anyone else had and solved the same problem with the Tour X?
