Any with an O-ring or X-ring will last longer and wear much slower, due to them being able to retain their original grease, as far as manufacturers go DID seem to get most votes, but stick to known brands and I don't think you'll go far wrong, maybe worth checking out OEM Honda chain too?
I got a DID Gold X-ring on mine which was nice, but I just ordered from Busters (I think) and that was the one they happened to have in stock in the right size.
cheers mate had a look at busters, they list twin but not alp
will try wemoto, see if they do a DID
DID Gold x-ring. Nearly 30,000 on mine now and still going strong.
2001 Transalp XLV650. Faithful old friend still chugging away nearly 100,00miles
2007 Varadero XLV1000. Now you're torquing but sadly gone to another forum member. One of the best bikes - period.
Yamaha XT660r - slowly getting it ready for some big adventures
It though does depend on what you're doing with the bike.
Normal road use then X ring or failing that I ring. Just make sure that any chain lube you use is X or O ring safe.
Off-road use then go for a heavy duty chain
Sand use will mean that the seals will get ripped to shreds quite fast and when sand gets into the joints and mixes in with the lube the chain wears very, very fast. Most people for sand use buy dry chains as the sand then has no lube to stick too, they are a lot cheaper but can wear out after a few thousand miles.

Just put a DID 520VM X ring on the xr400
