Motad Venom Can - Fitting issues

When fitting the link pipe to the existing system is it necessary to use a jubilee type clip or is it simply a slid on issue

    Thanks James

    Re: Motad Venom Can

Hi, I tried just slipping it on but it was pretty hopeless. It noisy leaks and becuase the mounting bracket is so flimsy it wobbled a lot too. I had notches cut into both ends of the link pipe with an angle grinder and bought a couple of those jubilee type clamps from a local motorbike garage. Most people recommend cutting an inch off the rear end of the link pipe - I'd say two and a half but that's up to you. I couldn't find any other way of avoiding the rear indicator. If you do that the springs will be useless of course so you'll definately need the clamp. You'll probably also need to re-shape the bracket aswell. Basically you need to do a heck of a lot of jiggery-pokery. As a note, I've just taken my bike on it's first long run on a warm day since fitting the can and the rubber lining of the bracket has melted and it looks a real mess. I've never seen that on a bike before and I can't think of a solution to that problem. I think next time I'll get a can that is bolt mounted like the original. There's a reason why the M.V is cheap - but did you see someone paid £180 for one on Ebay. Crazy - I hope it wasn't you!

    Re: Motad Venom Can

Thankfully not me - I got directly from motad ref the forum = recd the can before xmas and when I went to fit it - I'll be buggered if the can and indicator wanted the same space.
Spoke with Motad and they collected it again (from Belfast) to check it and said that according to their Jig it was OK. To be fair there then swopped the silencer over for one 50 mill shorter. Have still to fit the new can but hopefully the shorter can will sort the problem out - if not the angle grinder will

I've just spoken to Motad today and they're going to send me a new can which is good of them. They said the mounting bracket had the 'wrong kind of rubber'. Hhhmmm. Did they just send you another Venom can, just a slightly shorter one? I thought there were none left.
