What do you think is best Tomtom rider/Garmin zumo

I was all set to spend my hard earned money on a Tomtom rider but after reading some of your stories I’m not so sure now, if you have one of these 2 Sat Nav’s can you tell me the good/bad points of then as I can not afford to get it wrong.
Am I right in thinking the zumo will take other maps like memory map?

By and large I'm happy with the Zumo. The design is very good and the links with Mapsource can be VERY useful.

The main problem I've had is that it often drops the Bluetooth link to my headset after a phone call. Reconnecting it is tricky to do while riding, so I have to pull over to the side. It might be that the problem is with my headset. The Zumo can also lose its Bluetooth links with the mobile phone - Motorola phones are the worst for this.

I had an unfortunate problem with my previous Zumo in that it sometimes would take half an hour to find a signal. Garmin replaced it under warranty and the new one is great! I don't think this is a common problem, so count it as a one-off (unless someone else knows different?)

The Zumo 550 comes with the whole of Europe pre-loaded, Bluetooth and a car mount. Some people have no use for these so save money on the cheaper models.

I assume you've already seen the Wiki articles: GPS/SatNav

Oh, and I don't know if it will take maps from Memory Map. I seriously doubt it though. Garmin sells its own topo map of Britain - pricey.
