    Problem with Stebel Magnum

Help! I'm having a problem with the Stebel Magnum horn that I've bought off Nippy Normans.

Made up a nice bracket to fit it in place of the original horn on my Transalp - but everytime I tighten the nut it sounds "strangled". Loosen the nut - nice and loud - tighten the nut - strangled sound. Try the horn in a slightly different position and I get the same thing. Nut loose - nice and loud - nut tighten - strangled. Argghhhh!!!!

Am I missing something really obvious??

I have taken off the silver coloured backing piece, but that wouldn't make any difference would it?????

    Confused.

    Any advice welcome.

Off to make a cup of tea to cogitate the problem.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

Have you tried a rubber"sandwich"with a nyloc nut?

Yep, tried that - no joy.

However, I think that I've cracked it. Made up a new bracket that is longer and basically of a "U" shape and this seems to have done the trick. Just waiting for the battery to charge up as I left the ignition on whilst fiddling about trying to get the original set-up to work. Doh!!

It works from a seperate 12 volt source, so it should work from the bike's battery.

If - no when - it does, I'll post photos of the set-up.

All sorted now, see here -
