    I've ordered one of these

I ordered my earplugs and then saw this and ordered it as well. Saw one in real life at the BMF and it looked like it could do the job of holding my AT and DR up for essential maintenance. My headbearing replacement is imminent and I didn't want my AT balancing on a jerry can and jack whilst I'm pulling the forks out. I'll let you know if it fits my bike when it arrives.

Mmmmm, I lke the idea of them there things.

That looks screw type to me and hence a bit cheaper (in price not general 'cheapiness' if you get me?).

I'd be interested to see how you get on with it as the old jerry can and 4x2/rear paddock stand combination makes me break out in a sweat! PLus my swing-arm/shock linkage bearings are due some TLC and it would be a great excuse to buy one!

Re: I've ordered one of these

Well it was waiting for me when I got home from work tonight, shoved down the side of the house.

I used it with the cups shown and let them bear onto the round frame rings that the centrestand would normally go through. It lifted the bike up exactly as if it was on the centrestand, with the back wheel in the air. With a jack under the bash plate the front wheel would come off the ground. The bike was steady with no alarming wobbles.

The hardest part was holding the bike upright and hoping I'd got the cups lined up properly when lifting the bike. I did it from the right hand side so the sidestand (which I left down) would catch the bike if it fell away and I could catch it if it came towards me. If you removed the cups (they just slide off) then you could put it straight under the bashplate and lift it with no effort at all. I only used the centrestand mounts as I wanted to be able to remove the bashplate at any time to recover the inevitable socket or bolt which mysteriously always seems to drop into the bashplate when working on the bike.

I'll try and get a pic of the bike on the stand tomorrow.

I like the look of that Yen.

    give us the lowdown.

    where from ?

    how much ?

    can't beat a recommendation

looks like it would sit nicely on the bike lift.

Got the hang of it now. Bike's been sitting like this all night with no problem, staying there too as I have to repair a puncture Monday when I can get to a shop for a new tube.

I'm very happy with this product, wish I'd had one a long time ago.

Also worth considering (for the long term) is that this version is Not hydraulic, so you are not buying something that could leak fluid and you then find that spare parts are not available because the factory in China is no way traceable ! I have been been down this route in the modern "throw away world" and personally i think its criminal how much stuff get's tossed due to the above. Being THE oldgiffer i remember when you bought things made in UK and when something broke you just called the company & usually got a replacement part - often at little or NO cost due to goodwill. I have seen those lifts in Makro & whilst a good price the above reason put's me off buying to be honest !
Anyone else thing us Brits shot ourselves in the foot in the rush for cheap goods ?
