    exhaust problems

i have a devil stainless steel end can on my baby vara

now, the problem i have is: where the link pipe meets the original exhaust pipe the fit isnt perfect, ive tried a couple of fixes, but both failed :/ (1st was loads of exhaust paste wrapped in aluminum sheet, worked until i was rear ended :@, 2nd was to use hematite exhaust bandage, which promptly went soft and blew off when i went too work :@)

so i was thinking of wrapping the exhaust in exhaust wrap and seeing if this would stop the blowing from the rather large gap that is there.

any one got any ideas if this would work or have any other suggestions?

    Re: exhaust problems

Is it a gasket join or interferance fit?
If gasket - may need a new one. The Alp uses a wire wool type gasket that deforms and catches if you try and re-use it.
Otherwise one of the tubes could be ovalised slightly, if so heat it (run the motor) then use a G clamp to squash it back.

I would get a thin piece of copper sheeting and then cut a wrap very much the same way you did with the aluminium/paste, copper is softer and will compress a lot easier forming a semi airtight seal especially if very thin and then doubled.

    Re: exhaust problems

thanks for the suggestions, but managed to get it sorted

my dad knows a metal worker who was able to make a small gasket/seal type thingy to fit in the gap.

so no more blowing for now, just need to put a clamp on it and it will be finished

    thanks again
