    Side stand "foot"

Well this weekend i thought i'd make one of these.

Copied Dad's touratec one on his ktm for the basic size and shape and the rest was diferernt, first of all i cut 3 of the shapes out of alloy, 1 was solid (bottom), one had a whole in the same size and shape as the stand foot (middle) and the top one had a slot in that would go around the stand but of a size where the stand couldn't slip through, then drilled 3 contersunk wholes through all 3 plates.

I found the original stand foot was too thick to only have 1 middle plate so i made another, it's perfect, doesn't hit the frame, doesn't try and pull the sidestand to the ground and i can park on damp grass without it sinking ( liek last night when a gsxr sank next to my bike )

    Here's some pics

Far too smart, you should be ashamed of yerself!

Mustard mitt, I must get round to knocking up a plate for mine. I have a real struggle getting anything under the s/stand for support when it is fully loaded with camping gear. I suspect it'll be a bit of angle iron or similiar from the farm workshop...

Not here, our beer unfortunately comes mainly in bottles! Still good idea to down a beer before parking the bike, you don't tend to spill as much as when you're driving(only joking)!

Nice mod Mr P. , will look at both the Twin and the Adventure when I get home, as it's rainy season here, dead soggy..........till October at least!

Can you make me one please - a little bit thicker too as my jacked up suspension makes the sidestand seem too short?

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

They don't do a sidestand foot, do they? Missed opportunity, methinks - maybe Palmer should look into supplying them?

    Palmer.

You should draw up a wee "how to" with a procedure and pictures and post it in "Bodgers Corner".

Not only would you help others but it would qualify you as a fully paid-up - Fellow of the XRV Institute of Bodging.
