Halogen or LED side light?

Recently replaced my headlight bulb for a Xenon bulb makes a great difference but now i seem to have a 2 tone head light when it is dipped since the Xenon is bright white/blue but the side lights is a dim yellow since i have the standard 12v 4W BA9s bulb fitted. I was wandering could i change it for a higher wattage bulb such as this:

Or with it being 20W would it be too much of a strain on the bikes electrics and i should go for a LED light instead like this:

If your standard is 4w I would go for the LED

Well have just ordered the 4LED Xenon bulbs. So will have to see if it makes a big difference or not.

if your side light bulb sticks up like a candle you might find this type bulb too directional, ie in the wrong direction and you end up with less light rather than more.

Changed the side light over. Here are the before & after pics. The photo's don't really show how much of a difference it made but gives a rough idea.

A word of caution... I used to use LED sidelights on my baby Vara, and I found that they didn't last very well (about 6 months max) - tried a number of different types, but in the end I went back to the good old-fashioned Eddison type...

Apparently the LED bulbs dont like the heat that comes from being in the same housing as a halogen bulb.

You might want to keep a regular check on the LED to see if it's still working.

Thanks for the info.
They sent me 2 bulbs so if they melt i'll replace it but i'll still keep the old ones handy just in case.

Metal cased so should cope with the heat from the headlight bulb.

I get all my LED needs from them lot - very fast delivery and their kit seems to be holding up well - I've not had any fail on me yet and some have been in use over a year now.......

Side lights are next on the @ - but only cos one has actually fallen out of the holder and is lying in the bottom of the lense like a little dead fish........

The old sidelight broke and fell into the lens area. Just didn't fancy removing the head light to get it out.
