As the question says. What is the best oil for a 1993 600 TA since thinking of giving it a top up or oil change and wandered if it was worth trying a different oil like fully Synthetic or fully Mineral Ect..?

There has been plenty of discussion over which oil to use in your AT or TA. Some say don't use fully synthetic, some have used car oil, some have even used diesel engine oil, apparently.
Personally, I'd just go with what the oil companies themselves recommend - check on any of the web-sites. A quick Googling will bring up a few.
At the moment my TA is using Shell Advance VSX 4T 10W-40 (which is synthetic based, or so it says on the tin) just because it was available locally, is actually a motorcycle oil and wasn't horrendously expensive either.
So, there you go. You pays yer money and takes yer choice.
But, whatever you do - DO NOT mix synthetic and ordinary (mineral?) oils whatever you do!

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?
Einstein - Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
I had better find out what the previous owner put in before i top up then
Only reason i ask is i use Castrol Magnatex on the car and thought i could get away with using it on the bike as well since still have a few liters spare.![]()
I suppose you might be able to use it, but the oil manufacturers claim that their car oils have "friction modifiers" that would not be the best thing for a motorcycle that has a wet clutch. It might be okay to use this in a BMW boxer as I believe they have dry clutches, much like a car clutch for instance. (I could have been cruel and said "like a tractor clutch" but I won't.)
If you are uncertain what oil was used previously, then you could use flushing oil first.

Next silly question how much would i need for a oil change?
Would 1L be enough?
I think that after an oil and filter change, I managed to pour just over 2.5 litres into my 650 TA.
The haynes manual gives these figures for the 600 TA -
Oil change - 2.2 Litres
Oil and filter - 2.4 Litres

Thanks for the Info Lutin.
Just found out my TA had a Semi-Synthetic 10-40W oil & filter change in January before i bought it. So should only be a top up now i know what to put in there
I got some of this to top up with:
