    Radiator Paint

Have noticed that the paint on the radiators has started dropping off in chunks - any suggestions on what to use to repaint - did a search but only found that I need to use an Ali primer and then paint - Can I use any paint or is the manifold type stuff better

    Thanks James

I don't think that you would need manifold paint - after all, your radiators should never get that hot!

I just used spray Hammerite on the rads on my TA. The paint was lifting off the bottom tanks of the radiators. I wire brushed the tanks (brass wire brush, mind) then undercoated with the Hammerite "special metals" primer, by brush. Then I masked up the rest of the bike and sprayed the affected areas black, using Satin Black. Job done. Mind you, you cannot reallly see where I've painted without close inspection.

Typically, I had just emptied and refilled the cooling system before noticing the state of the radiators.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

As above Hammerite is the best paint for the radiator, it is just when the leaking fluid gets under the paint it starts to lift.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE
