I have the rider 2, the holder has been modified and seems to hold the unit better.
The ON / OFF switch is on the side, but I have mine wired into the ignition so it is set to switch on and off with the bike. It does save the fiddling ith the switch.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

Hi, yes I have the V2 and it is a lot better than the V1. The contacts on the back really do squeeze together when you slip it on the mount, and it locks with a convincing click. I also have mine wired in so it comes on as soon as you turn the key. You might like to check out this software, "TomTomMediaCenter" it allows you to load music, video, photos etc. on the SD card.

I've had real problems with my tom tom 2, to be fair when it works its not bad but if there's a problem you'll be messed about something rotten, my tom tom was new in Feb, fitted to the bike in march, crashed in June, returned to tom tom 2nd of July and finally working properly NOVEMBER,
heres a GENUINE quote from tom tom customer support ( Garad,5:15 pm 3rd September ) " It's obviously lost in the service center but that's in another country so theres nothing that we can do" !!!.
If you fish around this site for tom tom posts You'll find that I'm not alone in having problems and It's probably not a "club" you want to pay to join.

It seems I got the full Royal treatment. I bought a broken V2 from ebay, I then sent an email to Tomtom, in just 3 days they sent me prepaid packing to return it to them, in just 4 further days it was returned to me fully working and free of charge. I have been singing their parses ever since. Maybe I should just shut up and be grateful.

Simple solution don't buy the expensive finicky bike units get the car type which use the same mapping, are half the price, bigger screens then use a ram mount and if your realy worried about being waterproof 10 sealable freezer bags in tesco £1.09. My tomtom 510 is faultless, easy to use and £180 about 3yrs ago

I've got a Zumo 550, absolutly no problems what so ever. Plastic bags may stop a car sat nav getting wet, but it won't protect from the vibes man . The Garmin covers a wider area of europe compared to the Rider V2 europe

My car units been saturated without the bag a it had no problems. The europe map for my Garmin gpsmap60csx doesn't cover any more of europe than my tomtom maps do

One of the MCN testers (I can't remember which one) wrote on this subject just the other week. He had been using a car version and it soon buggered up due to the vibes.

I've had a really bad TomTom experience and others have had a quite good Tomtom experience. I'm currently sorted with my tomtom but I don't seem to see bad posts like this about Garmin Zumos, certanly when my repaired tomtom warrenty expires and it breaks down ( probably within days ) I'll buy a more rellable unit than tomtom ( probably Garmin )
