TPS and high advance below 15% throttle

Hi Folks,

one for our tuning gurus..

I have fitted an Ignitec two channel programmable cdi to the XLV750R RF RD01 I have.. I have had it on the bike for some 4000 miles and it was fitted when I did the TLD08 JOG to LE run.. runs a treat.. I fitted it as its DC powered and the original CDIs are powered by two high voltage exciter coils in the stator, these are a kinown weakness of this 1980s beast, and one of mine went.. bottom line I fitted the unit..

I have only recently hooked up a laptop and started to play with it, the original map programmed was a bit out in the mid range but spot on top & Bottom.. which is why the bike stared ok and reved out ay 8800rpm and could sustain 90+ for long periods on the JOG to LE .. the mid range advance was a bit low but the bike ran fine. I have strobed it and corrected the map to the stock settings and will road test once the snow has cleared

I have a Throttle Position Sensor and will fit it to see if that improves an already great bike.. when I enable the TPS option on the advance map page in the software, it populates the 3 map:- revs v throttle position v advance..

ok now the question

at the 3-7k rpm range the ignitech suggested advance is as high as 40 degress BTC for throttle positions between 5-10% after 15% opening the map is much less agressive and is in fact just a fraction below the stock map, which is only met at 100% wide open throttle.

some of the articles I have read suggest more advance a low throttle openings, to give the charge more time to Burn but from a WOT max of 27 BTC to 40, seem a bit accessive to me ( only one point is this high 10% throttle at 5000 RPM ).

I have added the wiring to fit the TPS and have the unit, Looking at the carbs, its looks fairly straight forward to rustle up a mount..so I will add the unit and see.. it can alway be switched off

being a saddo and snowed in. I have transfered it to a spread sheet so I could chart it and see what it looked like, as I said its agressive.. 5-15 % 3-7k rpm region , after that quite mild
