    Zumo corrosion

My Zumo handlebar mount is showing signs of verdigris on the contact pins, anyone found the best way to stop this? I am tempted to try a bit of vaseline as used on battery terminals as it would seem probable that it is the power terminals causing the problem.

I've used Vaseline for that very purpose. (No sniggering at the back!) The pins need only a tiny amount.

'Electrolube Contact Treatment Oil' will do wonders for it - it'll actively eat the verdigris with a fizzing action then stop it coming back - I use it on everything electrical, its great.

No, I've heard good things about, but never used it.

Lots of Electrolube gear in fleabay but not what you suggest. Any recommendations on a supplier, as I can envisage this being useful elsewhere on the farm!

    Re: Zumo corrosion

ive found the best way to keep the mount terminals from corroding is not to have it permanently on the bike.
i only put the mount on when im using the gps, so its only on for a day then taken off. i do it primarily for security, RAM stuff is good but its also easy for some scumbag to pinch and how much is a new mount from those other thieving scumbags, garmin? the car mount is £60 and thats only plastic. also i had chewing gum pushed into the terminals on my quest mount, so dont leave it on the bike.
on a trip it'll be on for a week or two but that doesnt matter. then its off and kept dry. ACF50 works fine but needs reapplying regularly as the terminals get rubbed clean.

I agree, if the Ram mount is on the bike, the thugs will mostlikely nick the mount and vandalize the bike to find the sat/nav thinking it is on the bike somewhere, as they get left in gloveboxes in cars.
