Nice! As far as I can tell the Military isn't available in the UK. Curious considering it's supposed to be "British" spec.

I've heard that (now the hordes of Armstrong/HD MT350s are getting old), the British Army have been buying Hondas, probably something XR250-ish. Anyone know if this is true? I've certainly seen a couple in the corners of Iraq/Afghanistan News photos and footage.

Doesn't any modern manufacturer make a dedicated "military spec" bike? I used to think that Suzuki Djebel 200s looked the part. Anyone remember them? The ones with the extra racks all over them - including one above the headlight. BAT motorcycles in london used to sell them. Stick a slightly bigger lump in them and they'd be just right.

There must be dozens of modern trailies that could be simplified/ruggedised for miscellaneous military use.

What became of the JP8 diesel military trailie that wased based on a KLR?

There is a dealer here (Ipswich) that has loads of these exMOD bikes. Mainly the old Armstrong ones but I have seen the odd Honda one too. Not sure which model they are based on though - as a short **** they are all far too tall for me.

BTW, I had one of the 350 Bullets done up as a Trailie as in your pic. Traded it in for the TA650 and regretted not keeping it in the back of the garage. Slow as hell and the vibration used to put my feet to sleep but great (noisy) fun.

Friend of mine has an original one, completely unrestored, in his garage. I keep trying to buy it but he's having none of it. Been there for years and as he's in his 70's i doubt it will ever move again.

the deisel KLR is still in development, thats primarily why they are buying stopgap bikes. the armstrongs are falling apart and they cant cope till the KLR is ready. interestingly the army is getting more into quads, small and large, because they can go mostly the same places at the same speed, carry more and run on deisel like the yanks have told the rest of NATO thats what they must do. (you can have any gun you want, as long as its 5.56mm)

Dont have much use for the bikes now, with current technolgy u dont need to pass paper by hand, so why put someone at risk.
Most of them are getting sold off or scrapped and wont be getting replaced appart from a few units, They were mostly used for comp's.

My two are sat in the corner of the hanger waiting to go.
Even the XR250's iv seen all seem too be battered and looking old.

Armstrongs, not used them for some time thank god , they either started first kick or you where down to your underpants with sweat kicking away, best mod; Del-orto carb.
Our lot have HD 350's but you are quite right there are a lot more quads about [Army] but GUN, a Bl**dy farmer has a GUN as I was un-politly told many moons ago.
Anyone remember the Enfield with a Robin Deisel engine that was available some years back.

yes sorry, RIFLE, im too used to shotGUNs. but farmers are bloody good shots, most can hit a dog square on in a field full of running sheep, or a speedcam sign from their discoveries at full chat
