its not worth taking a picture of, its not very pretty but it works. if you take an old PC hard drive apart you will find underneath the metal disc a small kidney shaped flat magnet, about the size of a large coin. im not kidding i dont know what its made of but if you put it flat on a steel bench or shelf you will have to lever it off with a knife, its that strong! no worries about it falling off the filter though.....
Well this hard drives , is the oldest 20 - 100 MBs , rare find in our times .
Any way , its a useful tip .
The bottom line are , that its good to know , that this particles can be removed from the engine .
In the begging I was a bit worry , because this bolt has a really long magnet, and that would possibly come in touch with some part of the engine.
Ridicules thought or not , the point is that it worked well , and I am very satisfied.
Many engine components are non-ferrous, but I suppose most of the moving parts are steel and/or operate in steel bearings. I wonder how much non-ferrous stuff continues to circulate though?

There is a fine line between numerator and denominator.

Interesting question ... But I believe that I have a partial explanation.
There is none , non-ferrous stuff circulating .
All the engine points that haves moving parts , haves in their contact areas ferrous stuff .
Plus .... anything that could be called as non-ferrous , it captured by the oil filter .
By another view , the oil filter captures and the ferrous ones , but the magnet goes one level higher , by capturing everything .
Thats why I described the metallic captured particles as " cream "...

"If you get a really strong magnet it may help save fuel as well, if the vehicle in front is made of metal."
Love it.
Put one on the back and have reverse?
I changed all the oils in the truck last summer and the rear diff has a magnetic sump plug, i've never seen one so big it was about 4 inches long and 1/2 " diameter and th egunge on that was like using Aluminium grease attached to the plug
