    Re: Bike Tuning

    Thanks for moving it Kymmy.

    *********************

No I don't know the exact RPM that it changes from the slow jet...

Its normally done from the throttle position though.

Pilot/Slow jet is used from idle to 1/8~1/4 throttle, depending on carb

Main jet is used from 3/4 throttle to full throttle

The needle is used from 1/4~3/4

There is an overlap on them so its a rough idea....
Different carbs have slightly different throttle positions to jet usage...

And I did say I havent tested this...I cant say whether it works or not...but I did also say that I would still do a plug chop to double check the mixture...

Only other thing I would say, is its better to be on the rich side than the lean side.....rich side produces more CO resulting in lower temps...less likely to damage the engine, than lean which produces more CO2 which results in high temps...

You would have to hold the bike at certain throttle positions to test each jet.
Fine, getting it at 14.4:1 at idle is nice, but if thats the only calibration you do...oh dear...
you would need to check the other jets...because a lean mix at the top end wouldnt be good :S...

    EDIT:
Firstly, I noticed you are in cornwall....where did you get your bike dyno'ed?
The only place I found was penzance.....

Secondly, as for the "how to do the job" statement, I presume you mean I didnt say how to fit it or connect it in the post?
Because I did reply in a later post as to an idea for mounting it, and wiring, well that would depend on the sensor...

Most of all though (especially to everyone attacking this idea) I didnt think of it!!
I am simply stating some info I found, thats all...
I havent tried it myself yet...so I dont know if it works...

Oh, and the 14.7:1 AFR is the perfect theoretically ratio.
In practise, you probably cant get that precise...

Where are you from?? There is also a dyno on the north coast can't remember name of the place though, it will come to me when i'm not thinking about it. The best one is GT's In Plymouth though people travel hundreds of miles to use him because of his reputation. He got my mates GSX1400 up to 122bhp and the speedo was well off the clock and started going around again, my mate looked like he was going to **** himself when he saw that. I think it cost £160 for 4 hours on the dyno.

Hodges was about £60 for 2 friday morning sessions but he was having lots of problems with his gas analiser when i was there and i have heard reports from a local Suzuki dealer thats he set up a few GSXR 600's & 1000's so lean that they can bearly pull away or tickover. Some owners came back to the dealer asking if they could remap the bikes it was so bad
