It does seem that you have a more serious problem than just a flat battery.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

Had the same 3 weeks ago, brand new battery, lasted the weekend then died. Took it back, they tested over night and said it was a knackered cell, rare on new batteries but can occasionaly happen. They got me a new one, put it on, spent weekend touring Wales, lots of starting and stopping, battery fine. I feared the regulator a amoungst other things, like had I wired bike wrong and was shoting out somewhere etc etc but pleased to say was just a duff en. Try getting battery checked out before parting with more money!
