    Karoo (T) poor mileage?

I just came from 5 day trip. Before I left, I installed Karoo T:s, I think I`ve seen people reporting that they last something like 3-400miles. So, I thought that I could easily to make it to Nordkapp and back. (I didn`t ever get there, but thats another story.. )

I had normal camping gear and me traveling alone, made about 50/50 gravel and tarmac. Two first days I drove about 1200km and noticed that my back tire is wearing out, and fast. I realised that I could might get it to Norge but newer back home. I managed to get Metz Enduro 3 and changed it when Karoo Traveller had 1800 km on and was fully used.

    Is this normal wearing?
Did I do something totally wrong?
I haven`t ever had a tire wearing that fast, except in my race enduros.

    Tire felt good to ride.

It was rolling to right direction, pressure was around 2,5 bar.

You have me slightly worried I have just fitted a pair to my KTM950 for a trip to the Pyrenees.

buuuuuuuuuuut my mate used a set to go to the Alps with us two years ago and got much better mileage than you did.

Perhaps Norwegian gravel is the mother of tough gravel

Yeah, I had Karoo's once, I can't remember which version but I think probably the same as they wore out very fast indeed, I think I got just over 1000 miles on them and they were finished, couldn't believe it!

Hi.. I am sorry to be the one that goes against the flow. I have used 2 pairs of Karoo(T), and they both served me quite well.

One of the pairs, I used to go to marroco. That is a 4.500kms trip, with some 1800kms in highways (not going more than 120 or 130kmh)...

It took me back home and was used still for quite some time. I reckon it made about 5.500kms (the rear tire, that is).
The karoo (T) is a sensible tire. If you like fast accelerations, getting away from trafic lightrs reving all up, you will wear it fast. On the other way, if you are calm and don't push it too hard, it will last. Not as much as a tourance (that makes 2 to 3 times more kms), but it will do for a ride you want to..

On the trip to marroco, there where 4 bikes. 2 AT, 1 2007 Teneré and one gs 1150 adventure. All 4 where riding with karoo (T), and we all got back from the 4.500kms trip with some tire on the back wheel.

    Re: Karoo (T) poor mileage?

    I can make around 6000 - 7000km with Tourances
Just can`t imagine me doing around 5000km with Karoos,
must be driving like taking granma to toilet.

Now I have Karoo front and Sahara rear, this feels very good combination on gravel roads.
Theres one pair of Tourances already waiting in garage..
