    Mixing Oils Panic!

XL125v-06 I'm running on 4 stroke 10/40 semi-synth and have noticed that I'm VERY low on oil and some 30 miles from spare oil.... I do have some 4 stroke 15/50 semi-synth from my scooter. I assume they're different brands as I don't know what's in there already.

I' m very uncomfortable with the low level (engine was grumbly today) so is it safe for me to top up with 15/50 as

    a) emergency measure (change in next 60 miles)
    b) medium term measure (see me to end of week i.e. 150 miles
    c) not a problem at all - run for another 500 miles....

Oil and filter change imminent anyway

    Help please...!!!

If they are both bike oils, the 15/50 should be fine to top it up with - but change it before the weather gets cold.

No problem at all, only a top up amount and both semi-synth.

Your absolutely fine to mix differnt grades of oil.. You'll just end up with a grade between the two.. Just don't mix mineral and synth as that's when you might get problems with various brands
