I have a Sigg bottle which i have used for fuel for the last 8 years or so, i also have a cupple of water ones which are exactly the same just for the colour.
There are no marks or wrighting on them so it could be confusing for some people.
Didnt realise they had stopped doing the fuel ones.

Re: sigg fuel bottle or not?

    well all ,
    what can I say ,

got home after christmas meet and checked seal on "suposed sigg fuel bottle" only to find the screw cap seal has started to melt. After only 48hrs in the bottle.

THIS IS GOING BACK and will be contacting sigg in switzwerland .

s dont buy a fuel bottle form "overland solutions" they aint no godd for fuel.

will kepp me eye out for a replacement thats designed for fuel and you can buy new seals for petol not water, think they should be "nitirle" or something like that.

overland-solutions.com has the most validation errors I have ever seen on any web site. The Firefox HTML validator takes a few minutes to count them but there are

Re: sigg fuel bottle or not?

    hi all,
just got a update from "overland solutions" so as they say sre the facts concerning Sigg fuel bottles for those interested.

Thank you for your email explaining how you got on with your Sigg bottle.

Your friend is quite correct in the fact that since a law came out in Switzaland that they are not allowed to carry / transport spare fuel.

We have been asked this question many times and keep going back to our suppliers to ask them. Their reply to us is that the bottles can carry fuel. The bottle will eventually detireate due to the fuel, but not for many years.Sigg also used to sell a fuel seal instead of a water seal ( black instead of the cream colour), but have not sold this for a few years now.

We will contact our supplier and tell them of your problem and advise them of this.If they require the bottle for tests we will send it to them and update our details accordingly.

So basically they suck will get a MSR bottle as they have spares avilable

Re: sigg fuel bottle or not?

    well folks,
got this reply today from "sigg" sort of clarifies things :

THEY DONT MAKE FUEL BOTTLES ANY MORE:-

    Dear Mr Moss

Thank you for your email and I am sorry but I cannot find your earlier email on our Server to us on this subject.

This matter is concerning because SIGG do not manufacture bottles for fuel. We manufacture drinking bottles. True, we have made fuel bottles in the past and these were coloured red and declared that they were for fuel.

I hope this helps to clarify matters between you and your supplier.

    Thank you and regards

    Douglas

so dont buy from "overland solutions" even thought they have saud a full refund is coming ,my way as I have returned their water bottles.

will buy "msr" as they have a full back up in the uk of spares-

if anyone wants new seals for their siggs i am sure the msr will fir and at 0.50p per seal aint dear.

Re: sigg fuel bottle or not?

I can confirm that Sigg bottles don't like petrol, the cap swells and the threads tear off when you try to open it.
I used to carry a litre of petrol in a fork bag on a Harley sportster, because of the silly peanut tank,it wasn't long before the cap F***ed up,in fact I still have it hanging in my workshop.
Does anyone know what the thread is? I could turn a cap up out of brass and use it again.
    Lee
