I had a set of those and have just had to change to the newer type as the controller went wrong.

sounds like its the switch. The "-" button on mine sticks sometimes and after reducing the heat they often switch off totally. I need to fiddle with the button to clear it before they wil switch on again. Your + switch could be sticking when you switch it on, hence the switch straight to max.

Bet it got wet in all that welsh rain the other week.

But it looks a sealed unit ?

do you just keep pressing it then ?

you dont think its a charging issue, they are wired to the ignition.

    Re: Oxford Heated grips

I bought a set of these off fleebay for my pals Superten, the same problem occured after a month or so.

Read somewhere on the net that Oxford had problems with early units.

I contacted Oxford by phone but they showed little interest and told me to contact retailer.

The retailer asked me to return the unit and after a couple of weeks a new unit arrived.

I have the same unit on my AT with no problems.

I was only joking about the rain

If you press the switches you can feel the contacts move and a very slight click (gloves off for this). When mine goes wrong the - switch feels "dead", a bit wooden, like its not doing anything. Pressing it a few times usually seems to make it work normally again and then the grips will switch on. Leaving it for 5 or 10 minutes usually works too.

I had a problem with the old rotary switch as well. Couldn't find the receipt so the dealer wouldn't help. Oxford were useless and said not their problem take it to the dealer. I bought a replacement set just for the switch as it was only about £10 more than buying just the switch. I have since had that switch replaced - this time via the dealer and took about 2 weeks as per treadtrader. I have also replaced both grips since.

So that makes my grips a bit like Trigger's broom in Only Fools and Horses. I have only ever had one set, but have had 3 switches and 2 sets of handgrips.
