works given the managers blackberrys because they cant cope if they are not on realtime syncing or whatever.
a couple of them have paid for the GPS option, app, whatever you call it, and got otterboxes to put them on their bikes. apart from the small screen they work pretty well.

+1 on the Nokia option. You can also install Garmin for normal Garmin maps and your offroad Morocco maps and the like. And there is software such as Viewranger for Ordnance Survey maps (and the beta now has Openstreetmap support!). I'm running the latest Nokia maps with free navigation and Viewranger on my N97 and they're absolutely brilliant.

    Re: GPS Advice

Yep I've been trying the Nokia option. I updated my XM 5800 last week and got the free nav software. Now it does nothing but crash

I will try to return it to factory default over the weekend and see if its any better.

My mate does a lot of riding both on and off the road and thinks I should look out for Garmin 278. But looking on ebay they appear to be hard to come by.

    Cheers

I had that problem a while ago on one of the previous updates and doing a hard reset cured it.

you will have to restore a backup afterwards and re-install your apps though.

    Re: GPS Advice

Well I tried doing a reset on the phone and exactly the same issue. Loads of people on the Nokia forums suffering the same. Anyway after much digging about I found out that a well respected unit (albeit ageing) is the Garmin 2610.

And I've just managed to get one from fleabay. I'll have a play with it and decide if its right for the job and if not it looks like Garmin 620 will be on the shopping list.

It will be pointless though because I won't be able to afford to go anywhere with it afterwards.
