    Crank Rebuild

Had a quick look through with the search, but couldn't find any specific names.

Its for my old MZ, but the principles are the same.
The big end bearings gone, due to a combination of being 28 years old, my riding style and we may have pushed the compression up a bit, and a bit more.

I can get a new connecting rod, big end bearing and pin, and little end bearing. Thats the easy bit

Question is where do I send a pressed crank to have it rebuilt properly?
Near Bedfordshire would be preferable but if I have to go for a ride I can do.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

Pick up a copy of Classic motorcycle Mechanics mag. There are loads of 2 stroke specialists/crank rebuilders in there who, I'm sure could help.

Good idea, I'll pick one up tomorow if the snow allows. Until then I'll check the mags I've got.

Though now I've looked into it a bit more it may not be worth it:
Con rod and bearings £35, + rebuild cost + postage there and back
Fully assembled crank £100 brand new ready to go

It's going to be a case of weight up the costs and decide

Check out MCN and Trials and Motocross News, look where the MX lad's get their engines done.

But £100 for a complete new crank assembley is a no brainer for me.
