since RIDE tests include price as a factor, theyve shot themselves in the foot IMO
I don't understand how the "best buy trianagle" went to the £20 system

I don't understand why, if a chainoiler is so vital, it isn't part of the bloody bike.

Because it's not. It's only vital if you can't be bothered doing basic routine maintenance.

because it does the same job 99% as well but for 10% of the price

agree 100%, they could easily do something along the lines of a 2stroke oil feeder

its one less thing to worry about, and cuts out chain adjustment between tyre changes too

Don't see why they can't build it in. VW managed to do it with the Golf - it dripped oil into the alternator from the the camshaft cover at a precise and controlled rate so you needed a new alternator every 6 months!

I guess they see it as something that would add to the showroom price, not everyone wants one, so could lose a customer to a cheaper bike without the oiler system?

The only time I've had to adjust the chain in 18.5K miles is after a tyre change when the fitter set it too tight and I had to back it off a bit. Just to be clear I probably oil it every 500-1000 miles and it takes me around 2-3 minutes to do. The chain is still in the "new" section on the wear indicator.

Automatic chain oilers just lead to an air of complacency around chain and rear wheel maintenance and when things do go wrong you probably don't notice till it's too late.

i meant scottoiler shot themselves in the foot giving RIDE the £200 e-system to test instead of the £90 old fashioned one they still sell, the marks for VFM would have been much higher.

if thats how these things are done. if it was fair the mag should buy everything they test themselves
