    Homemade @ Rack

I´ve ben threatening to do this for a while, so for my Sunday engineering project I finally made my new rack. The original rack was too short for a top box when carrying a passenger - the mounting for the top box used to hang over the back by around 6" and the box used to to wobbly around badly.

I have no welding facilities at present, so used rivnuts to assemble this. The 2 long struts are 1" square aluminium tube; the cross slats are 1" x 1/2" aluminium tube. I´ve made the slats wider than the original rack, so if I want to carry stuff other than my top box I´ll have a bit more support. I´m waiting for some plastic end plugs to arrive to finish it off, but the whole thing weighs less than 1Kg.

Looks good, if you search the web you should be able to find some
Plastic bungs to go in the ends of the tube, also if they fit you could
Keep your tyre irons inside the box section.
