    Gps tank bag

    Ok, here's a tricky one:

I am looking for a tank bag for my 2001 TA that will hold my gps (preferably allow operating its touchsreen too) and also act as a shoulder bag or back pack.

Here's what I 've found so far:
    Bagster Gipsy and Touareg

    Held

Givi T470 and T478 (though no pictures with gps in use)

Anyone used any of these or another with similar specs?
Any ideas about how well do magnetic tankbags fit TAs?

    Cheers

I have one of these, has got a shoulder strap and a strong handle
in the clear map case is a recess for a Satnav, I've had it fitted for three years without the straps, just using the magnets and have no problem on the Varadero
Its big enough for a full face lid

Thanks, that's interesting. Is the map compartment waterproof?

The Givi S850 is specifically for sat navs and fixes the the handle-bars. A little extra storage space but much smaller than a tank bag.

I would say yes but I have never left it on a stationary bike in a downpour,
I have gone through some really heavy rain and nothing has got through, but nothing really gets past the screen anyway.
It has a built in condom for extra protection the side pockets would be the most vunerable areas so everything gets bagged that needs to be kept dry

    Re: Gps tank bag

I have one of these attached to the relevant tank bag in the picture. The tank bag is magnetic only, fairly light and well enough made. The GPS case zips securely ontop and had a stand to hold it upright to remove glare and also a waterproof cable port for charging.

I now put my iPhone in just the as it has an A5 window port for maps infront of the gps case.

Not a backpack or a shoulder case really, has a strap fir shoulder but it looks like a handbag! I just use the handle to carry it with my helmet as it's about the same size as the base of a helmet.

Case is about 2inch thick if stuffed full, folded Michelin maps will fit inside. Nice touches like tabs to secure zip pulls when riding so they dont flap about.
Gps case is thick enough for old style Tomtom. Sits very secure and allows touchscreen use. Also folds flat onto tankbag if u prefer.

I did insert an extra strong magnet close to the headstock as the originals are a bit light. Also, I had to remove Velcro strapping from base so it could sit properly, these are used to piggyback this onto another larger case again. Just undo stitches and it's a clean removal. To add magnet, just butcher old tank bag for mags and make a small incision into the base of this one to insert. Superglue it closed and ur done.

Wee bit of a faff, but it was worth it, dont like big bags on tank or straps in way of filling tank.

    Re: Gps tank bag

Many thanks for all the suggestions. I ended up with a Hein Gericke one similar to what Farky described. Small and cheap fits nicely on the tank. Only problem is seeing the screen in daylight. But that's not to do with the bag but the gps itself.
