I re-waxed my Belstaff jacket a million years ago. Really horrible and messy. I couldn't be bothered to do it again.

    Re: Wax oil

Why would I want to ?

I got 4 year old Richa jacket and trousers, and they leak, and I can't afford new kit, and I got a bike trip to the Forests of Galoway in 3 weeks and the one piece oversuit I got is ok on the road, but its going to get realy hot and sticky off road, and a tin of wax spray is about a tenner, and I had a belstaff jacket in my youth that didn't leak, and why does it have to be cotton, and and and and......

    .......... I was just wondering.

why not try some tech wash / TX direct.

you can wash it and proof it in the washing machine

+1 for the tech-wash, there is also a can of after-wash treatment you can use. Hein Gericke sell it. It works OK.

Washed my Evolution textile jacket with Nikwax Tech-Wash, and sprayed it afterwards. It did start leaking again, but only after riding through a HUGE downpour for 1.5 hours. I don't think it would have stood up to that rain when it was new...

    Re: Wax oil

the TX direct is the wash in proofer,

I just did my HG Atlas trousers with it as they'd started to let a little dampness through, so far so good

    Re: Wax oil

I have washed and proofed with the "wash in" nikwax products, didn't seem too good. I was looking at spraying with the tent proofer.
Is that what you used ?

    Re: Wax oil

If it is a waxed Jacket then it is best to get it re-waxed.
If it is a light fabric with water resistance then a tent water-proofing spray will do.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE
