    XRV running hotter than usual

I've had my XRV-2001 for the last 7 years and covered 35k of normal commuting into London 6 days a week . I do the normal services to the bike and finally had the valves and carbs checked by a major Honda dealer in West London. The bike use to run very cool all year round, the lower quarter of the temp gauge. Now it runs at mid range and the fan even switches on during my normal run to work, which has only happened about 4 times since I've owned the bike and that has been during very heavy slow traffic. The bike shop has taken another look at the bike and declared that "all is normal and running correctly". Most other XRV bikes seem to run very cool too.
Does any one know why my bike could now be running hotter than usual or has my bike never run correctly since 300 miles on the clock ?
    Thanks for any feed back.

You'll get more luck with your query if you stick this post in the Bike tech or AT forums.
This forum, here, is purely for saying hello, telling others a bit about yourself and posting a picture or three of your bike!!

If it is any consolation, my TA600 never even seemed to budge the temp guage needle, until I rode in France this summer: >35 degrees in the shade + stop start in French towns = A fan that suddenly does ever seem to be off for more than 10 minutes!!
In hotter weather a liquid cooled bike will need the fan sooner or later.

Check your coolant levels (althought the shop should have done it).

    BTW, welcome to the forum...!
(my 1000th post!! Completely forgot that was coming up!!)

My Alp seems to run a bit hotter since I overfilled the coolant...haven't got round to sorting it see if it makes a difference.

    Just a thought .

It's quite hard to spot the level so they may have put a bit in anyway.

Try releasing the pressure cap before starting the bike and let it tick over, then replace the cap and check the coolant level.
Mine did something similar hen the coolant got changed.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE
