    Winter lubing

Just want to remind you guys about lubing the cables now that some of the bikes are about to be laid up.
Mine isn't, ride it most of the year, but around this time, I like to give the rascals a bit of oil

I forgot to do it last year and it got me stuck in Keswick with a bust clutch cable on the way to the National.
Big thanks to Outrunner, Hudders, Paul S and Steve T for helping me out and all those nice XRV people who offered help

Anyways, this is my annual gloop method ---

Put some oil in the funnel and leave overnight to work through cable, be sure and put a bit of rag at the other end.

    Amazing stuff Gaffa Tape
Done the choke cable since photos were taken.

I have a cable oiler you use with aerosol can get it set on the cable correctly and jobs done in 2 mins. That said i just replaced the clutch cable on the Varadero. Was using it to go hospital when the wife was being held in after giving birth, was travelling over and got that feeling through the lever that the nipple was about to snap so ordered a new cable and fitted it. Removed the old one and it was fine but had stretched a fair bit so i now have a spare for emergencies

those hairyarsole ones are good for blasting the muck etc out of the cable , i then use one of these to get some lubricant in, WD40 etc is a bit thin and does not really last long
