3 of us are out this Sunday, we will be meeting in the Sawbridgeworth Total petrol garage and setting off for Dunmow/Stebbing at about 10am, I have a route of approx 15 km green lanes. We will be taking it easy as its only our 4th run out. Anyone wanting to join is more than welcome, depending on where you are we can meet closer to Dunmow if that suits.

Just reply to this thread with where you are and we can try to sort out a meeting place, see you Sunday maybe.

Damn, I would do it but my @ still only has the road tyres the previous owner put on it To make matters worse, I spotted cracks in the rim around 3 of the spokes the other day - wheel rebuild needed methinks! That and the tax and MOT are due on it soon AND on my winter bike AND I need new boots and new trousers as well
Oh and your bikes are much lighter - where are all the dual sport riders?
Still, let me know next time you're around here!

Thanks Dave I can't at the moment but once I've got the @ sorted with some decent tyres and things I'd love to give it a go sometime - especially if you know some lanes friendly to your 950!

How do you send PMs on 'ere, do you have to be a subscriber?

Might be up for this. Where is it? More detail needed. Do I need the completely off-road tyres on (would need to change them Saturday). Have a DR350 but only ever taken the @ off-road before so it should be easier.

    Hi Whealie

It'll be between Stebbing & Great Bardfield.

The first lane we tried last weekend and it was fine but can't speak for the rest of the route as it's new to us. With the rain over the last few days I'll bet it'll be a little messy.

I have .gpx files of the route but not sure the best way to share them.

    Re: Green Laning in Essex

Just to let you guys know, if anyone is looking for a bunch to ride with or to be shown around the many Essex byways, take a look on Essex Bikers - Owned by you since 2002 and you'll find a thread called EB Green Laning in the video section, where it's all at

There's quite a few of us who meet most weekends and do between Roxwell, Braintree, Finchingfield etc ... and sometimes even further. Generally we meet in Chelmsford.

I dare say you will run into them (hopefully not literally!) on Sunday, there will be a white XR400 and a red XR250 and probly a few others too

Of course if you wanna take a look at what we've got up to in the past, we have loads of videos on youtube, just type in 'eb green lane', and you will find them
