    Camping weekend June/July 07 Dartmoor/Exmoor/New Forest

After last year's famous weekend events:
    http://www.xrv.org.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4674
    http://www.xrv.org.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4949
    http://www.xrv.org.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6900
... I'm wondering if anyone's interested in another trip down that way. Since Dartmoor has been done a couple of times, I'm wondering about Exmoor or New Forest? Votes?

The Beggar's Roost looks like a nice place with camping next to the all-important pub! There's hotel accomodation for those who don't want to camp. We'd be near Porlock Hill, Cheddar and so on. There are some byways on Exmoor, and I found a few in south Devon.

Alternatively we could book places in a New Forest camp site. Roundhill is declared as biker friendly, having its own "motorcycle field", but has no shower block!! Holmsley looks nicer. The New Forest is a pretty area and the National Motor Museum is nearby. However, we'd need to book places as these camp sites fill up quickly.

BTW, I realise that McVicar will probably be on auto-pilot and ride right past Exmoor/New Forest towards his beloved Princetown, but would that be an entirely bad thing? .

    Regarding dates I'm thinking
    Fri 29 June - Sun 1 July
    or
    Fri 6 July - Sun 8 July.

Those are before the school holidays but shouldn't be too busy.

Provisional expressions of interest will do for now.

Sorry 6 July I'll be doing "Haggis Run 2".
Would be OK for May or early June otherwise will have to give this one a miss.
Any of the above seem OK. I don't mind basic but I think a shower block is a must.

At that time of year it's bound to clash with - or be near - SOME other event. For those doing the Haggis or Stella, who else is interested?

if you are going to come down to the new forest why not try and tie it in with the bike show at Beaulie?. Not a great deal of off roading that is suitable for the AT,s around that area. lots of nice back roads and pubs.

Also I have been told Sammy millers which is on the edge of the new forest some times lets his spare field out ?.
