Fancy a ride to Chernobyl for charity?

Iím organising a 2 week trip to Chernobyl in the former Russian state of Ukraine to raise funds for the charity, Chernobyl Childrenís Project (UK) which help children in the area who are still being affected by the aftermath of the nuclear disaster. We will pass through Holland, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Belarus and Ukraine. There will be 10 places in all, so if anyone is interested in joining us on what will be a truly memorable event (plus, do a bit of good at the same time!), please go to www.bikeaid.org.uk for all the info.
    Regards, Allan :P

like the idea and its a good cause, but would be concerned that the site seams to be biased to sports bike riders which are rarely interested in doing anything less than warp factor9 every where!

It's not orientated at sports bikes at all - the stipulation is that it is no smaller than 600cc. In fact most people that are interested/signed up are on the adventure type bikes rather than Fireblades and R1's! Hopefully there will be a mixture of bikes who'll be riding in different groups depending on bike type/speed. We'll be looking at all meeting up together at border crossings, lunchtimes and at the end of the day. The idea is for everyone to go at a pace they're comfortable with. To get a better idea of what's involved have a look at- http://www.bikeaid.org.uk/challenge_details.html

Re: Fancy a ride to Chernobyl for charity?

So £2000 should cover sponsership of £1000 and fuel/accomodation/etc?

I'd dearly love to do this...If only I was on more than £6.50p/h

I have a while yet though...

Can you update this with how many places are remaining as and when please?

How much foreign riding experience will I need? I have ridden round this country and very briefly ridden in Portugal so I think I would be OK...but I don't want to get ahead of myself!

    I'd be the youngest too.

F*ck it. Checking to see if my insurance will cover me but if that and all the other 'admin' type things go OK, I'm going.

    So, who would sponser me?
