    XRV day out in France????????????????

Just having a thought - would anyone fancy a get together and a day trip to France ???????????????

Just been looking at Eurotunnell prices for a bike, and doesnt seem too expensive (as long as i'm looking at the right bits).

Was thinking maybee sometime in August before the national, or maybee Oct/Nov after the national?????????????????????

Ive never been to France in the car, let alone on the bike !!!!! Not sure what to do once over there - Have a bit of a ride around, stock up on booze and fags and eat some snails ?????????????????

    Any tips/thoughts ?????????????????????

This would be from Folkestone to Calais

    Cheers. Ant.

I may well be up for this too.

Ferry would be cheaper though wouldn't it? We pre-booked and got Dover – Calais on P&O the other week for £19!

Yep - Ferry cheaper, just tried on the P&O site to get an idea and got £14 day return for 1 bike and rider (How the hell can the train companies justify their charges )

Must remember to ask the misuss - i'll have to buy her lots of perfume .

Or i could just say i'm off out for the day with the lads and come back with some pressies for her

The French are really big on the Big Trailie Dakar thing, we could also find some good lanes/tracks in Northern France to play on.

Oh, and if its sort of Nov ish I'm in!

I'd be up for a few hours of green laning over there - not sure where we'd start tho

Or do we just play dumb and ride anywhere we like Perhaps go to Le Touquet and play in the sand

    I'm up for this.
Calling Jacqueslemac come in number one your time has come (Some PMs between us mean I know that he knows where the nearby green lanes are in Normandy - and maybe even a place to stop for the night if we were to decide on more than a day trip).

Re: XRV day out in France????????????????

I have a place in Normandy (www.la-basse-cour.co.uk) with loads of room for bods (a dozen or so, if we're friendly) and undercover parking for bikes.

It's 230 miles from Calais, so not on for a day trip. I'd be up for a long weekend, though, later in the year.

There are literally hundreds of miles green lanes in the area(see http://www.la-basse-cour.co.uk/Walking.htm for an example), as well as loads of quiet traffic-free roads.
