bike tour in new zealand planned

I got my africa twin shipped from rotterdam to nz last march. import charges minimal, registration around 250 nzdollars. now for the coming summer season I plan to travel around the south island. anybody going to nz with the own bike or rent-a-bike in akl or ch'church? and like to team up for a leisurly tour camping or using backpackers?
