CHEC Hare and Hounds 18th Nov.

Myself and a friend are out to play at this minor enduro event. It's using the track and woods as shown here:

    http://www.xrv.org.uk/gallery/main.p...2_itemId=12014

I'll post directions as soon as they are out, plenty of spaces left if any one else wants to play. I've entered a similar event there on the TA, but it was hard work, little bikes or big people recomended!

    Entries from here:

    http://www.f16catamaran.com/Chec%20regs%201107.htm

Its about 2 miles from me, ish 1030 race start, normally a burger van in attendance.

Its either going to be a 3 hour straight through, or 2 by 1 1/2 hour sessions, they normally run the later although the 3 straight suits me better. If anyone comes down/enters catch me before or after, I get a little blinkered during!!

    I'm no. 72, Daz is 71.

Re: CHEC Hare and Hounds 18th Nov.

Stolen openly from their site, the directions for Sundays (hopeful) mudfest. Weather forecast is good, ie rain, and the stream always allows a bit of mud to form. Should be a good day!

    Chiltern Hills Enduro Club
    Final Instructions:
Venue: Great Billington, Near Leighton Buzzard

How to find us. There are many and varied ways to get to this venue but if you can get yourselves onto the A505 either from Dunstable or Leighton Buzzard you should see the orange direction arrows. As a clue from the Leighton Buzzard direction its not the 1st turning sign posted Billington but just after the speed camera is a second turning. About ¼ mile down this road, opposite the car boot sale should be the venue.

Start: There will be a riders meeting at 10.15am, hopefully starting on time at 10.30am with 10 riders per minute, in numerical order, leaving from a dead engine start ( so that the marshals can help chivey you lot along ).

Scrutineering / Signing On. Please sign on as soon as you get to the venue. There will be no scrutineering of bikes at this event, spot checks will be made of noise levels, tyre choice, and helmet safety approvals. You are riding this bike, it will be down to you ensure your bike is safe and fit for its purpose. Please do not start your bike in the parking area on arrival.

Club Membership is included in the fees

Tyre types : Solos, rear Trials tyres preferable all other types less 20% of total score. Front optional.

Numbers: All bikes must have identifying numbers 3 sides if possible, front minimum

Noise: 94 dBs FIM Enduro ( 85dBs @ 2 metres ) , in addition any bikes / quads exceeding 86dBs @ 5 metres at any throttle opening / rpm will be excluded ( four strokes are quiet at just above idle but noisy at higher rpm ). There will be no refund if your bike exceeds the noise test limits. Any bike tested over the limits will not be allowed to compete in the first half of the event even if a quieter exhaust is fitted

Refreshments and toilets will be in and beside the pit parking area.

Safety is paramount. Please give each other a wide berth on the course. Slower riders please give way to the faster riders, equally faster riders please do not pass slower riders at excessive speed.

Blue taped areas ( including start / finish, Parc Ferme ) are 5mph, no passing, no revving of engines, just an orderly walking pace ( my walking pace ) please. Although the forest area is closed to the public we still need to be on our best behaviour however and be aware that there still could be people crossing the paths

Scoring: Hare & Hounds: You have 3 hours from the first time through the tagging area to complete as many laps as you can. Scoring will be by electronic wristlet RFID Transponder. Scoring will be 10 points per lap ( 8 points if on MX tyres ) . 3 points per minute will be deducted for all minutes over your 3 hour period. Shortest time on course wins if riders are equal on points. If we run 2 x 1.5 hour events there will be no penalties for over time minutes at the half time interval ( you will just miss your lunch break and only the lap started prior to your 1.5 hours will count ).

Parking: Parking at this event will very restricted, can you please park as tightly as you can in the parking areas.

Bike Pressure Washing: Sorry there will be no facilities for cleaning your bike at the event, please leave the pressure washers at home.

Tips: This is a 3 hour event, almost without exception you will not be able to race the whole 3 hours. Take it easy to begin with and rest when needed, there's plenty of time to go and do a few more laps, take plenty of fluids and in the last hour keep the concentration levels up. If the novices and sportsmen find the track a bit slippery due to rain or conditions then wait for a period of time, almost certainly the track will become easier as the event goes on.
Remember Motor Sport is dangerous and persons attending this meeting do so at their own risk.
Good luck everyone and lets make it a good safe weekend

Yeah well, talk about a poor day!

Not over well in myself, did 11 laps, came in 73rd!

That said, the riding was nice, nothing hard, but I didn't seem to warm up until the last couple of laps. Cramps after about 5 mins in session 2 held me up for a couple of laps - 20 min laps, wimp .

Big bits of learning - I need to get fit, and I need to learn how to ride my bike.

It is still awesome though, so see the fast guys come past, and these guys are not that fast when you consider the BEC/WEC guys!!

Re: CHEC Hare and Hounds 18th Nov.

I was timing some of your laps mate and they were nearer 16mins on most of them. .The organizers had set the lap at 14mins, so you were pretty close !!.

You had some bad luck with cramp in the second stint and I think that was a big setback coz it made it too hard to make up the lost time.

Talk about bad day, Daz had the worst day posssible, 1 lap in and his bike started to cut out, frantic spannering out on the course came to nothing and a return to the pits was inevitable ,only to find out that a broken wire from the kill switch was the problem !!.

By this time the day had slipped away from him and all he could do was stand and watch you pounding round. .

All in all ,from my spectators veiw point, you got out there and rode! and although the day could have been better there's always next time mate.
