Budapest-bamako
Costs the same as a good night out to enter - worth thinking about eh?

I've been fancying this for a while now. I've a plan that involves our link schools in Senegal, and computers etc, which should get me time off work, and has a hugh charity angle. Plus the fun factor, only sticking point I have is getting back, either ride or have the bike shipped etc costs etc.
Think it would make a good step between the "organised trail ride" africa, and a full on raid. Would make you think on your feet a lot too!!
If enough people went as a group say from the XRV forum you could ship the bikes back in a container for not very much or you could just keep going![]()
Mudwiz where are you in Beds? you may not be very far from me in Rushden
I'm down in Leighton Buzzard, but its still not too far!
er.... for these not aware I (raidxtreme that is ) is a UK rep for this event. more than willing to put you in touch with past entrants from the UK or help if we can.
places for 2008 are now full as far as i know.
yep 2008 is fully booked -
I really really fancy this - you can enter as a racer or take a touring option with less stage pressure but the same route and trials and tribulations - plus u can adopt a school and do the charity bit - an xrv entry would be awesome.
Jenna it'd be pretty useful to contact previous entrants and get some feedback. Their websites not awash with rider reports. And I suspect if we were gonna do this we'd need to get booked up damn quick coz places are limited, I imagine a lot re enter, and the costs will invariably go up.
I'd have to divert to Timbukto if I did it thoughand containering a load of bikes back does seem like a good idea

Stilll, we got a bit of time to mull it over.
there isn't a great deal of UK press for the event as the organizers were concentrating on the home start (Budapest) as apposed to the UK (London) one... there are a few reports on line in the big nationals somewhere and it was all filmed for the travel channel. (do a search on you-tube for 'TravelChannelVOD' to find all the footage!![]()
)
If enough people are interested i can get a past competitor to write a small rundown and post it up if thats any help.
the 2009 course is thought to be a going a slightly different route, plans will be put to the press in feb 2008 (and bookings likely to be taken and filled very shortly after!), plus may also be able to offer some sort of back up for the morroco stages in the 2009 event if anyone wants it.
I posted up last years entry info here and should be the similar this/next year

been discussing plans for 2008-9 with her 'ladyship' today.
The B2B is a great event and one were keen to back, but due to an ever expanding work load its unlikely we will be able to participate ourselves but this doesn't mean we cant contribute in other ways.
Soooo if anybody is willing to put up a team (4 or more) to do he run for charity then we are willing to buy, prep and donate a little Suzuki jeep (sj410/413) to be used as a support vehicle on the run, and then be donated to a local charity when the event reaches Bamako.
Whats more this is an open offer so who gets to use/drive the vehicle is up to the team however it would be nice if the task is chosen by a lottery with the ticket money also going to a worthy charity also!!!
