Vader and I were going to go to this this year, but things conspired against us....still fancy it though for next year.

Didn't realise there were 2 "Elefants" though. If I'm going to go and spend a freezing weekend in Germany I'd rather do it properly in the snow rather than in the mud at The Ring! Been there and done that already.

What's the deal with the one in Sol then...any more info?

Well the one with the Snow(maybe,as they had a few snow less years) is without the extreme party atmosphere from the ring..Its seems to be a bit "QUIET" compare to the one on the ring. The torch procession is on foot and there is no off road area either.
They call him "Ze Quiet one"
I listen to what the rice crispies tell me to do

This one is the Real Deal, the one at The Ring is a bit of a Johnny Come Lately in both senses of the word! Went to the 50th. Rally in 2006 and had a great time. Loads to see and do, and it's only quite in the sense that there are no live bands or other entertainments. Really is a melting pot for bikers from across Europe. Going again in 2009 as my bike broke down last time and I did the last hundred miles by hire car (and had to walk miles as it is a strict bikes only event).

    2007 was like this:

There is no need to book tickets as you pay at the gate. If you are thinking of going I would recommend getting a decent snow shovel and a small sledge (for moving fire wood and straw for insulation).

If you do go there is usually a Brit. contingent behind the IMBUS (food outlet) just up the main drag from the entrance. There is also a small entrance located there (manned!).

It is better to regret the things you did rather than those you didn't - so why not join us this January you have nothing to loose but your extremitys.........
