    Worcs/Glos/Warks Green Lane Routes?

Ok guys so I have had my XR650 for 6 months now and the nearest I have got to off road is riding across a campsite to get to my pitch!!
This wouldn't normally be a problem except that the only reason 'er indoors agreed to the bike was if I predominantly spent the time green laning (she is under the impression this is a safe hobby???!!!).
Problem is I don't know of any popular routes/tracks anywhere around where I live (Worcester).
I am willing to travel to neighbouring counties in my quest to spend a day putting the bike to good use.
Anyone from round here and knows of hidden green lane treasures?

    Cheers
PS Joined the TRF but seems that was a waste of money. The worcs rep now lives in York!

I have some Garmin GPS track logs. And if you don't have a Garmin, I'll even post the co-ordinates. They're on my other computer though, so I'll try to remember to do it tonight.

Large parts of Fosse way are open, so that will get you from Kemble Airfield down to Gib Hill! Bob1leg, Barftone, James and others are the experts though.

In the mean time, have a look here: The "I know a short-cut" tour of Wiltshire byways. Oct 07

Forgot to say maybe try Glos TRF group. I know they used to be well supported. Look out for Byways on OS maps (check out their website for a small area view of 1:50000.

Thanks guys, I'll take a look at link and look into Glos TRF Group. I guessed I would be travelling south to glos/cotswolds or north west to shropshire for some decent trails.
Would love to know about any rideouts being organised!

(Whispers: ) When she said, "they are fab" she was referring to the lanes, not to you.

    Re: Worcs/Glos/Warks Green Lane Routes?

Note: These are not definitive indications of legal rights of way. The Byway status may have changed since we rode them, and/or there may be TROs in effect. All routes had good to excellent surfaces and were passable by big trail bikes. Some routes are quite short.

If you have a Garmin GPS and MapSource, you should be able to unzip then load the attachment. It includes routes taken from track logs of a ride out last October.

If you don't have MapSource, you can find the start and end at these lat/long co-ordinates:
    • Route 1: N51 29.895 W2 12.632 - N51 30.256 W2 13.172
    • Route 2: N51 34.242 W2 10.355 - N51 39.332 W2 04.688
    • Route 3: N51 37.223 W2 00.433 - N51 36.880 W2 00.586
    • Route 4: N51 36.316 W1 58.603 - N51 34.976 W1 58.388
    • Route 5: N51 28.252 W1 52.932 - N51 26.761 W1 54.553
    • Route 6: N51 26.574 W1 55.140 - N51 25.947 W1 56.596
Sorry the co-ordinates are decimalised minutes. If your GPS requries deg/min/sec, then multiply the decimal part (to the right of the decmial point!) by 60. So N51 29.895 becomes N51 29' 53.7"
