You haven't forgotten it's Mothering Sunday*, have you?

(*for anoraks, it's the day when servants etc were allowed to return home to visit their "mother church" - the one they were christened in.)

and the reason the dates change each year is because in the UK and Ireland it is more correctly associated with the 4th Sunday of Lent. This is also known as Refreshment Sunday where the strict lenten fasting was relaxed and it was common to bring/give a simnel cake as a gift. The Gospel reading is usually the feeding of the 5 thousand.

    Mother's Day is an americanism.

(P.S. I've never been christened. I wonder if I'm allowed the day off?)

As long as you're back in the scullery by 6am, off you go and have a lovely time

I thought it was a Quarter day.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

Nope, March 25th is a quarter day. It's called Lady Day.

Only Mother's day we have in the Netherlands is the 2nd Sunday of May...

    So I'm off the hook

I'll see whoever is interested at the Ace around 10am!

Now i'm off, it's waaaaaay too nice outside not to ride!
