Glencoe 9th - 10th May Camping

I have been busy.

I bought a Genuine Honda Topbox for £50 .. with all the fittings. bargin
Got my new tent.
swedish army stove thingy .

And I have been out driving about with a loaded topbox. to get used to the weight..

And going away holidays next weekend for a week. But will be back to this thread to see whats happening..

I would have loved to go but it's Fiona's mothers 60th on the Sat, I couldn't miss that! Also, Fiona's doing the run for life on the Sunday and needs some encouragement!
If not for these other commitments I would have joined you folks. I've still not had a chance to try out my camping gear on the new Vara so will be planning a couple of days away soon.

Saturday route ideas, Corran ferry, lochaline ferry, Kilchoan ferry and back to Glen Coe, I have done the Mallaig ferry as well in one day but we would need an early start.

Any one thinking of getting there friday eve?

I might be friday eve, but Iam working friday so will probably be Saturday 11am - noon... before I get there..

As for the route , not sure.. I have done the corran - Kilchoan ferry to tobermory before.. lovely roads. but how long will it take us. Its quite a drive .. When I did it I was driving my old landy...

Of course my TA is faster than my Landy..

Oh dear , sorry you can not make it that weekend..

We can maybe organize a weekend camping trip up at ullapool in June, July. So we can look at routes etc for national .. But we will have to be sure that you are free, do not want you left out again..

just me feeling sorry for my self has two camping trips so far & a long run to Durness with Steve T so can t complain

Yes its difficult getting everyone together at one time, we all lead so busy lifes. A camp at Ullapool would be great , to suss everything out..
We should start a thread after Glencoe, to see if we can get as many people as possible together to go... on a convenient weekend

If you need a laugh, I remembered the Ferry Terminal at Kilchoan, so I thought I would find a picture....



I spent a week in Kilchoan 2 years ago.. wife rented a cottage.. its certainly remote... But nice..

I'm working too Friday but will get up ASAP Sat morning, 11-12 ish, something like that. Green light from the boss to go, even been up in the loft and scratted out my tent. Looking forward to it. Just need to book some good weather.
